The Hungarian Community Centre is made up of various organisations that represent particular aspects of Hungarian community interests.

The Australian Hungarian Transylvania Association

The Association supports the maintenance and strengthening of language, culture, heritage and traditions of Hungarians living outside of its borders. It is particularly involved in the wellbeing of Hungarians living in Transylvania by supporting their schools, orphanages, churches and welfare organisations. The Association provides tertiary scholarships for students from disadvantaged families.

Meetings are on the first Tuesday of the month at 7pm at the Hungarian Community Centre's Transylvanian Room.

Gyongyosbokreta Folk Dance Group

The folkdance group caters for the more advanced dancers and it also includes the “mature” dancers who commenced dancing later. It is actively involved in the promotion and maintenance of Hungarian cultural life.

Rehearsals are Wednesday nights at 6.30pm for the “mature” dancers and 8pm for the advanced dancers.

From March to May 2011 the dance group will be taught by professional dancer, Árpád Kiss from Hungary

The objectives of the Hungarian scouting movement is for Hungarian-speaking Youth to learn and live by the scout laws, adopt the scouting way-of-life as written by Lord Baden Powell, and to embrace the richness of their cultural heritage as inspired by the teachings of Count Pal Teleki.

Knox Hungarian Senior Citizens Club Inc.

The object of the Knox Hungarian Senior Citizens Club is to enrich the lives of older Hungarians who may otherwise be isolated. Members are able to share traditional Hungarian meals at gatherings.

Hungarian Embroidery Club

The club aims are to maintain, practice and pass on to others and future generations the art of traditional Hungarian folk embroidery.

Hungarian Community Centre Folkdance Group

To teach Hungarian folk dance to young people and to be actively involved in the cultural life of the Hungarian community.

Children between the ages of 5 and 10 practice on Fridays from 6.00 pm to 7.00 pm. Dancers up to the age of 16 practice Fridays from 7.00 pm.

Hungarian Language School

The Hungarian school serves the Hungarian community by teaching the language, literature and culture to children from kindergarten to VCE. The school also involves itself in community activities.

Classes are held Friday nights at 6.30-8.30pm at the Bocskai Hall (Fitzroy); Saturday morning 9.30 to 12.30pm at the Hungarian Community Centre.

Melbourne Hungarian Television Ass. Inc produces programs that highlight the many aspects of Hungarian life in Victoria.

Hungarian Human Rights Foundation

The role of the Hungarian Human Rights Foundation is to monitor the human rights of Hungarians where ever they may live. To achieve this aim the Foundation maintains contact with other Hungarian organisations within and outside Australia.

Trianon Society of Victoria
