Following the sale of the first Hungarian House in Richmond, the community moved to a building in Westgarth. By the end of the 1970's the Westgarth building became too small for the needs of the community. It was at this time the Jandó and Hende families offered the community land suitable for a new centre provided that the community could raise $100,000 to enable construction to commence, which it did.

The construction of the first building, the Youth Hall began in 1980 and was completed in 1982. The next two halls, the largest hall and the Social Club were completed in 1990.

The elegant Szent István Ecumenical church, set in gardens adjacent to the memorial, was completed in 1993.

The Korona restaurant, offering its patrons a unique Hungarian culinary experience, was completed in 1995.

Most of the construction and all of the funding of the Community Centre was the result of the hard selfless work of the volunteer community. The Centre continues to be administered by a group of dedicated volunteer Directors.
