Following the sale of the first Hungarian House in Richmond, the community moved to a building in Westgarth. By the end of the 1970's the Westgarth became too small for the needs of the community. At this time the Jando and Hende families offered the community land suitable for a new centre provided that the community raises $100,000 to enable construction to commence, which it did.

The beautiful Szent Istvan (Saint Stephens) ecumenical church, set in gardens adjacent to the memorial, was completed in 1993.
The Korona restaurant was completed in 1995 and offers traditional Hungarian and European cuisine.
Most of the construction and all of the funding of the Community Centre was the result of the hard selfless work of the volunteer community. The Centre continues to be administered by a group of dedicated volunteer directors.
